Southern Homes of the Upstate

In 1989, Robby Newton started Southern Homes and Remodeling, a small ambitious business serving the greater Upstate South Carolina. This business grew and now Southern Homes of the Upstate is one of the largest home builders and community developers in northwest South Carolina, building between 250-350 homes a year.

At Southern Homes of the Upstate, we know that a home is more than a house. That is why we put special care and attention to detail into every home we build. We are proud of the fact that we provide the same quality workmanship in every home we build, whether they cost $150,000 or $2 million.

In 1998, Southern Homes was recognized as one of the leading builders in the South when they produced the 3,800 sq. ft. Wren House, a Southern Living Showcase home in the South Carolina Botanical Garden at Clemson University.
